Annual BLCC BBQ

The Belgian Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce were delighted to hold their barbeque on the 29th August 2021 after a lapse of two years.  Everyone adhered to the Covid restrictions and kept within their family, work colleagues and close contact confines.

It was wonderful to see so many members and their families enjoy the event which was once again very kindly hosted by our President, Anny Verwijs at Kilcroney Furniture.

We were honoured to have the new Ambassador to Ireland, Karen Van Vierberge and her First Secretary, Julien Thonar together with his family and Second Secretary and Consul Karle de Volder and her husband.

It was pleasure also to have our Honorary Consul to Luxembourg, Ivan Healy with his wife and family.  Most of all the event was made extra special by the present of our Founder and Honorary Life President, Frank Tumson and his wife Noelle.

It is wonderful when everyone pulls together to help make the event such a success.  From our member David as chef/barbequer and his wife Michele on the organising of the tables/chairs/marquees ably assisted by Bridie, Anny and a large contingent of Verwijs’ to ensure everything ran smoothly on the day.

Our members were so generous and brought along delicious and appetising salads for the main course.  However we were totally spoilt when it came to the desserts from superb home bakes to exquisite creations as the photographs below will testify.  We had a speciality from Belgium, 3 x Limburg Vlaaien’s that Gaston brought over on the plane that morning so from bakery to plate within hours which certainly added to the occasion.

The children enjoyed the bouncy castle and whereas the sunny didn’t shine it was a very dry and warm day just perfect for a barbeque with family and friends.
