On 18 June, on the occasion of Luxembourg National Day, we were delighted to attend the celebrations at the Ambassador’s Garden Reception.

It is always a pleasure to visit this beautiful residence, and it is hard to believe that four years have passed so quickly as we prepare to say Au Revoir, to H.E. Ambassador Mrs. Florence Ensch.

The reception was a wonderful gathering where old friends and new acquaintances came together to celebrate Luxembourg National Day and enjoy the welcome sunshine that appeared just in time.

Ambassador Ensch welcomed special guests, including Jennifer Murnane O Connor, who spoke about Ireland’s forthcoming EU Presidency and the twinning relationship between County Carlow and Luxembourg. In her address, Ambassador Ensch reflected on her close working relationship with the Belgium Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Ireland (BLCC) and the significant progress the Chamber has made over the past year in building momentum, strengthening its profile, and growing membership.

It was also a pleasure to meet one of our newest sponsors, Mr. Ronan Murphy of CWSI, together with his wife Michelle.

We will also be sorry to say farewell to Andre Flammang and his wife as they return to Brussels. Over the past four years, both Ambassador Ensch and Andre have been steadfast supporters of the BLCC, generously sharing their time, expertise, guidance, and encouragement. Their contribution to the Chamber and to strengthening the ties between #Ireland and #Luxembourg has been greatly valued and sincerely appreciated.

As they begin new chapters, we wish them every success and happiness. While they may be leaving Ireland, we hope they take with them many fond memories and know that they leave behind a small part of themselves here. We look forward to welcoming them back for visits in the years ahead

On 16 June evening, Board Members and members of the BLCC joined Ambassadors, Embassy representatives, members of the European Chamber of Ireland, and invited guests for an insightful economic briefing at the European Parliament Liaison Office in Dublin.

The event was jointly organised by the European Chamber of Ireland and the BLCC in Ireland, hosted by the European Parliament Liaison Office, and generously supported by Matheson LLP.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Gabriel Makhlouf, Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, followed by an engaging and thought-provoking Q&A session. His insights into the Irish and global economic outlook attracted immediate media attention, with his warning that inflationary pressures may worsen making headlines in the Irish Independent shortly after the event concluded.

Our sincere thanks to Dr. Jack Golden, BLCC Board Member, for helping to facilitate the BLCC’s involvement and for extending the invitation to our Board and members.

The evening provided valuable economic insights alongside an excellent opportunity for members to strengthen professional connections.
