It was a super day on our annual barbeque this year and once again the weather was kind to us.  We were honoured to have Ambassador Van Vierberge and First Secretary, Julien Thonar representing the Belgian Embassy and André Flammang with his delightful wife and two children representing the Luxembourg Embassy.

Joel Durand of Blackrock Cellar was a knowledgeable and expert barman who was able to advise on the craft Belgian beers and even the Luxembourg wine courtesy of the Embassy and plenty of soft drinks which were enjoyed by one and all.

The food was delicious with salads and scrumptious desserts surpassing our expectations.  There are some members who go above and behold with their home bakes and this was definitely evident on the day.  The children had giant Connect 4 and Jenga to entertain them while the adults were serenaded with music and song from Belgian, Jan Muyllaert of Irish Harps and the beautiful Jennifer Leahy, an award-wining harpist who enchanted us with her performance on one of Jan’s handmade harps.

A big “Thank You” to our main man and member David McNerney who was our chef par excellence over a hot barbeque on the day.

The Chamber is extremely grateful to our President Anny Verwijs for always hosting one of our most successful and enjoyable events for many years now.
