Blackrock Cellar – National 2017 Off-licence of the Year!
Congratulations to one of our valued members – Joel, Katia & their wonderful staff at Blackrock Cellar, Main St, Blackrock Co.Dublin.
Bonjour,
We’re absolutely thrilled to let you know our very good news. Monday evening saw Ireland’s Off-licence industry gather in the splendid surroundings of King’s Inns for the annual NOFFLA awards. We first entered way back in 2014, winning the Best First Time Entrant award. The following year we won Wine Specialist of the Year and in 2016, Dublin Off-licence of the Year. Imagine our surprise, and delight, to learn that we’d been awarded the 2017 National Off-licence of the Year!
We’d like to thank all our staff past and present, especially Graham Kearney and Ross Turner, without whom this award simply wouldn’t have been won.
On a more personal note for Joel, thanks to his long suffering wife Katia for putting up with the last five years. We made it!
On another personal note for Joel, thanks to Dr Sean Carroll and colleagues at St Vincent’s ICU, who helped him through forty operations and six months of recovery from a life threatening infection in 2012*. Without their amazing skills, Blackrock Cellar wouldn’t be here today.
Thanks to all our wonderful suppliers who bring us terrific products to sell – our modus operandi after all.
Thanks to NOFFLA (National Off-licence Association) for awarding us overall winner this year – there’s plenty of strong competition out there among our friendly colleagues in the industry**.
Finally, a big high five to all our wonderful customers who keep the Blackrock Cellar barque afloat week in, week out.
Very best wishes,
Joel Durand
PS: Why not celebrate with us tomorrow evening for some fizz here at Blackrock Cellar. David Llewellyn, Lusk fruit grower extraordinaire, will be bringing his Frizzante Perry along (and some of his wine too); a perfect way to round off an amazing week…

** Looking forward to the Euro NOFFLA Off-licence finals in Ibiza later on in the summer…
