We celebrated the New Year at a very successful Wine Tasting event in Blackrock Cellar on Friday 25th January 2019.
Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and the tasting of excellent wines which were selected to suit most palettes. We started with an excellent Sparkling Wine from Luxembourg which was the perfect way to toast the New Year. This was followed by three very different but interesting white wines and then three red wines one of which was organic and a great accompaniment to the wonderful pate and cheese’s on display.
The owner of Blackrock Cellar is Joel Durand, he is a valued member of the BLCC and has an amazing story to tell. Not only to do with his career where he started out as a chef cooking with wines which eventually led him to opening his own off-licence. Joel had a near death experience and only for the amazing support of his lovely wife Katia and the expertise of the doctors and nurses in St Vincent’s hospital Joel’s story would be so difference.
Joel has many hidden talents which includes drawing and painting together with a great artistic flare for making all the unique signs in his shop.
Blackrock Cellar together with Joel and his knowledgeable and helpful staff have once again won a very prestigious award. It is the
NATIONAL OFF-LICENCE OF THE YEAR 2019.
This award could not go to a nicer person and we wish him, his wife Katia, two beautiful daughters Julia and Kristina and all the staff at BLACKROCK CELLAR continued good health and prosperity for many years to come.
