There was a great atmosphere as everyone got involved with the spirit of Christmas which resulted in a fantastic sense of goodwill all around the room. There were plenty of spot prizes distributed and of course our annual quiz which was won my one of our relevantly new members, Pat Walsh.
We did share the odd joke but rather low key as a mark of respect to our much beloved member Malachy McCloskey who very sadly passed away on the 7th December 2019. Our President, Anny Verwijs raised a glass to Malachy before dinner as a number of the Chamber members had attended Malachy’s funeral the day before. One of his son’s mentioned in a heart-warming eulogy that his father had a great sense of humour and thoroughly enjoyed a joke. Something I was very much aware of as I shared many a good joke with the remarkable Malachy on more than one occasion.
We also missed our Honorary Chairman, Frank Tumson and wish him improved health for 2020.
Once again we thank Troy and all the staff of the Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club through their Honorary Member Noel Kierans for their excellent service, delicious food and great wine.
It was wonderful to have Ambassador De Bauw in attendance and we thank everyone present for making our annual Christmas Dinner another enjoyable and successful event.
